Trevor Jacobson

Co-Founder, Curator, Video Editor & Sound Designer

Trevor Jacobson is the co-founder and co-creator of Render. Trevor works as a Videographer, Audio Engineer and Video Editor in Vancouver and has been an Electronic Music Producer and DJ for close to 20 years. In 2006, Trevor formed the live audio/visual act The Automatic Message with his partner Tanya, and together they have since been producing avant-guard, off-kilter techno and supporting it with their own visual interpretations. Over the last few years their music has been charted by the biggest names in techno such as Speedy J, Adam Beyer, Dave Clarke and Ben Klock.

The Automatic Message’s intriguing videography and dark style of editing has caught the eye of some of the biggest names in the techno world. CLR label boss Chris Liebing brought them onboard to create, produce and direct four videos for the label’s release schedule with Black Asteroid’s “Engine 1”, Tommy Four Seven’s “G”, Drumcell’s “Disturbance” and Drumcell’s “Speak Silence”. The videos they created for Tommy Four Seven and Drumcell were selected for screening at the Antimatter Festival in Victoria, BC in 2011 and 2013, respectively. Disturbance was also nominated for a 2014 Berlin Music Video Award.

Trevor and Tanya have performed across North America and made their European debut at Berghain’s Klubnacht in July 2013 and are about to make a second trip this summer for 3 performances in July. Both trips to Berlin were made possible by the Canada Council for the Arts Music Travel Grant Program.
